Fashion for women took an unusual turn in the l940’s. The war had a great impact on women’s fashions. Most of the 2 piece suits women wore were very drab in color. They were usually a tan, black, olive green, brown, etc.

There is a very good reason for this. The suits were  recycled from the men’s suits. The war caused a great financial burden on the government and since the men had been recruited to go to war, it became s simple solution. After all, the men had no need for suits during the war.

The suits were simply recut and redesigned into suits for women. And the large shoulder pad became part of the package.Next time you look at family photos during this time, check out the women’s clothing.

Have you ever owned a piece of clothing that you just loved to wear only to find that the store no longer carried that brand?. Well ladies, there is  a way to track down that item and the store that sells it.

On every piece of clothing is a tag that tells you the fabric content, the size, style and most important a RN number. This RN number is also known as a registered number and every manufacturer must have one thanks to the FTC (Federal Trade Commission. With a little detective work you can find the article of clothing provided the company is still in business.

If you can still read the RN number on the tag, just go into the FTC’s database on the internet, key in the number and you will find the manufacturer or the retailer of the item.

Just for fun, pick an article of your clothing and track it by the information on the label. See if you can find it. Happy hunting.

Warriors in other cultures also wore a form of the necktie. As years passed, the necktie came to be an important part of dressing for society and style. One thing to notice in the American necktie is that the stripes will always go toward the heart.

Thanks to the textile industry, a wonderful fabric called "moisture wick" is allowing women to stay comfortable in those difficult times. It is also anti-bacterial, which is also very important. Clothing made of moisture wick allows us to stay looking fresh and dry. Nothing is worse, than having your clothes showing "sweat spots. "

Wow, I don’t know about you, but as I go through the change of life, also known as menopause, I just couldn’t seem to find any career wear blouses made of a wicking fabric.

A wicking fabric is a fabric that is used extensively in the sports world. A lot of marathon and distance runners purchase sports wear made of wicking fabric because it pulls the moisture (sweat!!) away from their bodies and the fabric dries quickly.
